The Southern Regional Snooker Qualifier was held at Riley’s Snooker Club, Shirley, Southampton on Friday 12th May 2006.
On a very hot day in Sunny Southampton, the Southern regional Snooker competition took place with six keen competitors ready to try and to master the green blaize and emulate the current World champion Graeme Dott. After a round robin competition in which each player played each other with some exciting play two players stood out, Dominic Campion and Dave Reynolds. There could only be one winner and Dominic proved that Dott had better watch out with a highest break of 42. So congratulations to Dominic Campion who goes on to play in the National finals and Dave Reynolds joins him after securing the runners up spot.
Many thanks to the other players involved: Patrick Goyatt HMRC Soton, David Wilcox HSE Basingstoke, Ryan Whicher HMRC Soton and Paul Wolfe.Plus thanks to Riley’s at Southampton for putting on the event for us. Special mention to Portsmouth Area Association and Winchester Area Association – Val Gill for providing funds for the two winners prizes, both taking home snooker cues provided by our sponsor and who we get a discount from March Sports in Shirley High Street Southampton.
